Visiting a website that doesn’t have a secure encryption code can be a problem, especially when you’re going to leave your personal data there. On one hand, you really want to buy those beautiful earrings you saw with Swarovski crystals, but on the other hand, seeing that the website lacks an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate makes you wonder whether buying them could put your credit card information at risk and, in the end, not complete the purchase.
Like most Internet users, I value my security. If your website doesn’t have an SSL certificate, users will think twice before giving you their email address or personal information. As the owner of a small business — or any website owner — who might require that information, an SSL certificate is essential for my online business.
